Good morning, Beaumont. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 19th of August.
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Port Neches-Groves ISD board voted Monday night to place a $75 million bond issue on the November 4 ballot—aiming to fund improvements like a new high school auditorium that doubles as a community center, roof repairs, and enlarging the transportation center without raising taxes. The board will host public meetings at 5 p.m. on Sept 8 and Oct 13 at the Administration Building for community feedback. KFDM
- ➤ Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath said Beaumont ISD will soon see major changes as state law forces a choice—either to close a failing campus or to replace the district board with appointed managers. He explained that repeated academic failures, including five consecutive failing ratings at some BISD schools, have led the state to step in to support local students. KFDM
