Some Other Place hosted its 24th annual 'The Tasting' fundraiser Monday at the Beaumont Civic Center to raise $100,000 for local programs.

PAISD is reviewing a reported corporal punishment incident at Memorial High School — officials will update the community once the investigation advances.

Superintendent Sandi Massey said the district will not introduce AI lessons for students this semester while teachers use AI for lesson planning.

The district also revised the ROAR reading program so volunteers work outside class time and plans events on Oct. 15 and Oct. 30 (more details pending).

Gerald Hatch continues to secure the vacant church building that has faced repeated break-ins while working with city officials to meet code requirements, and he is moving ahead with a redevelopment plan that will replace the site with over 200 new apartments to boost local jobs and revenue.
