CRIME NEWS

  • The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is searching for Martin Gack, 45, who left his vehicle on McFaddin Beach on August 20 after it got stuck in the sand while waiting for a tow truck with his mother—he is medically vulnerable after recent heart stents and has not been found.  KFDM
  • Former BISD electrician Calvin Walker appeared in court today as Judge Stevens warned him that his bond will be revoked if he does not quickly increase efforts to pay over $1 million in restitution owed to BISD by selling assets—like a bucket truck for $9,000—and securing new income, with a follow-up set for four weeks.  KFDM
  • Beaumont police are asking the public for help in locating a violent fugitive, 26-year-old Daniel Eli—accused of repeatedly attacking and threatening his ex-girlfriend and charged with aggravated assault and family violence.  KFDM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Twin Peaks in Beaumont — owned by Avalanche Food Group — will distribute individual grant checks ranging from $100 to $1,000 on Sept. 6 to more than 130 local teachers who applied or were nominated. Teachers will also be served food and drinks during the event.  Beaumont Enterprise
  • At Silsbee Elementary this morning, school officials confirmed that a student brought a broken BB gun to campus and that campus police checked it—finding it was not working and posed no risk. Silsbee ISD credited the student for reporting the item and said they will follow the Student Code of Conduct.  KFDM

  • The Beaumont Enterprise unveiled the 2025 Preseason Super Gold Football Team listing standout high school players from Southeast Texas - including West Brook's dual-threat quarterback Tam Anderson and Orangefield's speedy running back Mason Manning, each expected to excel during the upcoming fall season.  Beaumont Enterprise
  • Newton Eagles will travel to Orange Friday night to face West Orange-Stark Mustangs in their season opener as they pursue a 14th straight district title under coach Drew Johnston. The team will lean on running back Kendray Porter while the Mustangs, led by coach Hiawatha Hickman and standout Khelvy Jefferson, try to win their first district title since 2021 — expected rain may affect play.  12 News Now
