- ➤ Beaumont has approved a public art project that uses community-collected ribbons—transformed into a mosaic by artist Ines Alvidres—to honor local victims of the summer floods including Mary Grace Baker, Aiden Heartfield, Ella Cahill and Joyce Badon. The city will collect ribbons at Rogers Park from Sept. 2 to Sept. 16 as project details are finalized. Beaumont Enterprise
- ➤ Beaumont officials approved a public art installation to honor four local flood victims with a mosaic made from community-collected ribbons. Community members will drop off ribbons at Rogers Park's Dowlen Parking Lot from September 2 to 16—artist Ines Alvidres will design the tribute—linking remembrance and healing. KFDM

- ➤ Beaumont police are investigating an altercation on Center Street near Some Other Place that left one person critically injured with a stab wound to his back — a second person was also hurt and a suspect is in custody after officers responded at 10:30 a.m. today. KFDM
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ ExxonMobil asked for a permit for its Rose Carbon Capture project during a Tuesday night public hearing in Jefferson County, and some Cheek residents said they worry about the safety of the nearby injection well. The Texas Railroad Commission has not granted approval yet, and the project remains under review. 12 News Now

- ➤ Beaumont will enforce higher fines on illegal roadside bandit signs on September 1 — a first offense costing $1,000, a second $2,500 and a third $5,000 under a new state law that aims to clean up the city. 12 News Now
