CRIME NEWS

  • Beaumont Police Department detectives are asking for public help finding 36-year-old Andrew Cousins who was reported missing on August 27 and last seen at the Salvation Army at 1094 McFaddin Avenue on August 12—he is described as a white man standing 6'3" tall and weighing about 300 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.  KFDM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Beaumont Housing Authority took over Orange Housing Authority — addressing poor performance and financial mismanagement identified by HUD, and residents reported better maintenance and improved services since the change began July 7. Daaliyah Quinn, a resident at James Zay Roberts Plaza, said she was relieved to see the improvements without needing to move or reapply.  FOX 4 Beaumont
  • Fletcher Elementary School was placed under a shelter-in-place order Friday as Beaumont Fire Department responded to a gas leak near the campus—at the intersection of Goliad and Avenue F—with no injuries reported. Officials said the leak is not on school property and are monitoring the situation closely.  12 News Now
  • Beaumont doctor Ray Callas, an anesthesiologist who announced his campaign on Aug 22 for the Texas House District 21 seat, was endorsed by Lt. Gov Dan Patrick and Sen Ted Cruz—he aims to replace Dade Phelan who is not running again.
