CRIME NEWS

  • Police arrested three suspects from Houston after they attempted to steal an ATM near Walmart on Highway 69 in Lumberton early Monday—reports show they abandoned a stolen F-250 linked to the device and switched cars before police caught them.  FOX 4 Beaumont
  • Jefferson County deputies are actively searching for 20-year-old Brandon Clayon from Port Arthur who is wanted for aggravated robbery after reportedly failing his plea deal—Sheriff Zena Stevens urged anyone with information to call authorities.  KFDM
  • Police arrested three Houston-area suspects on Monday after a failed attempt to steal an ATM near the Walmart on Highway 69 in Lumberton—authorities recovered both stolen F-250 trucks and charged the suspects with theft and organized criminal activity.  KFDM

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Art Studio in Beaumont is set to open its 'Art of Mental Health' show on Sept 6 at 720 Franklin St.—the exhibit features diverse works by local artists that express personal challenges and strength related to mental health and runs until Sept 26.  Beaumont Enterprise

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Jasper native Brandi Dean, who has worked 19 years at NASA, was surprised when she received the Silver Snoopy award—recognizing her work on the Boeing Starliner flights for the Artemis Program—with her family and close friends present. She was honored for her key role in improving flight safety in the human space flight program.  Beaumont Enterprise
  • City leaders in Beaumont said that if the $264 million bond proposal passes, projects for a sidewalk master plan, road repairs, and drainage upgrades will be funded and started sooner—responding to strong community requests. The improvements will be delayed for three years if the bond does not pass.  Beaumont Enterprise
  • Hundreds of new Texas laws took effect on Sept. 1—changing penalties for human trafficking, updating school and driving rules, and altering healthcare practices across the state. The 89th Legislature passed these laws to affect many parts of daily life.  12 News Now

  • A Beaumont apartment complex at 1030 West Cardinal Drive will begin a renovation that alters 48 units and adds 96 new units starting Sept. 15 — the project is expected to finish by March 2027 according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations.  Beaumont Enterprise
