  • Del Papa Distributing and United Way of Beaumont and North Jefferson County are using every Michelob Ultra sale in September to support 19 local nonprofits addressing mental health, food insecurity, and youth mentoring—efforts that keep charitable funds in Southeast Texas. The campaign runs through September, with proceeds benefiting programs for seniors and other community needs.  12 News Now

  • Today, Port Arthur hosts Fiesta 57 at the Bob Bowers Civic Center with a car show, live music and a scholarship pageant—downtown Beaumont will host Viva Beaumont tomorrow with food, music and a 10-foot piñata.  12 News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Beaumont Police Officer Gabriel Fells received his Star of Texas Award in person in Austin while his colleague Sheena Yarbrough-Powell’s family accepted her posthumous honor—recognizing their bravery following the 2020 crash with a wrong-way intoxicated driver. Governor Greg Abbott presented the awards on Thursday—honoring the heroic actions of our local first responders.  KFDM
  • The city of Beaumont will close South 23rd Street *between Bayou Road and 200 feet from Laurel Ave* starting Monday until Oct. 15 for sewer work on a sanitary sewer trunk line. Motorists should follow detour signs as schedules may change with weather conditions.  Beaumont Enterprise

HEALTH NEWS

  • September is Sepsis Awareness Month — sepsis is a dangerous condition from infection that can cause tissue damage, shock and organ failure if not treated promptly. Gov. Greg Abbott declared the month to recognize the sepsis program at CHRISTUS Southeast Texas.  KFDM
  • Jefferson County Precinct #4 will host the 'Take Yourself & a Loved One to the Doctor Day' health fair on September 20th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church on 3755 Fannett Road in Beaumont to offer free health screenings like previous years; Commissioner Bo Alfred discussed the event on the noon show.  KFDM

  • Hardin-Jefferson High School named D'Corian Warren the week three Play of the Week for his standout play this season — his recognition shows his skill on the field.  12 News Now
  • Bridge City beat Orangefield 21—14 in week three of the high school football season in Southeast Texas. The 409Sports team updated live scores and highlights from Friday night games to keep local fans informed.  12 News Now
