- ➤ A vigil honoring Charlie Kirk was held Friday at Port Neches Riverfront Park, and former councilman Mike Getz has organized another vigil for Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the old Market Basket on Phelan to feature speeches and prayers. - ➤ Lamar University’s first Big Red’s Roundup is taking place today at the Spindletop Boomtown Museum — the event offers family-friendly activities such as a Community Resiliency Showcase from 12 to 5, rodeo games from 3 to 4, mutton bustin' from 4 to 5, professional bull riding from 5 to 7:30, and live music from 7:30 to 10 with general admission at $10 while kids 12 and under and LU students with campus IDs get in free.
