- ➤ A pre-dawn crash on I-10 westbound in Beaumont slowed traffic to less than 10 mph from Calder to Washington—drivers headed to U.S. 69 south should exit at 11th Street and use Fannett Road to avoid delays. Beaumont Enterprise
- ➤ Camp Mystic will reopen its Cypress Lake camp next summer near the site where 27 girls and counselors, including Beaumont's Mary Grace Baker, died in a July flood— and the camp will build a memorial to honor the victims while working with engineers to meet new safety rules. KFDM

- ➤ On Tuesday morning, an unexplained odor at Odom Academy led to 12 students being sent to hospital after they felt ill—BISD and emergency services ruled out a gas leak and are investigating the source while monitoring the students’ condition. KFDM
- ➤ Beaumont ISD will welcome Texas Education Agency Commissioner of Education Mike Morath on Tuesday, September 30 — as he reviews the district’s new plan to boost student learning and accountability. Superintendent Dr. Shannon Allen said the visit will show the progress in classrooms and outline next steps for improvement. KFDM

- ➤ City officials in Beaumont are planning to restore quiet zones in West End after train horns resumed about a year ago when the Railroad Commission removed the quiet designation due to outdated safety features—officials will reconfigure eight crossings at a cost of $400,000 from the Community Investment Plan to rebuild taller medians that meet new safety standards. 12 News Now
- ➤ Jefferson County commissioners approved a new agreement with attorney Richard Hughes to continue his magistrate duties at the county jail, where he ensures that arrested individuals are informed of their rights and receive bail within required timeframes.
