COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Traffic on U.S. 69 near West Cardinal Drive and South 4th Street was light, though drivers on U.S. 69 south near Delaware Street experienced a slowdown. Heavy congestion stalled Interstate 10 westbound from Vidor near the Neches River—traffic eased between Finger Street and North 7th Street.  Beaumont Enterprise

CRIME NEWS

  • Texas Game Wardens and multiple agencies—including the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Pendleton Harbor Volunteer Fire Department, and Sabine County and Parish Sheriff's Offices—are searching for 21-year-old Peyton Hughes, a Campbellsville University student who went missing from Toledo Bend Reservoir while pre-fishing for a Bassmaster Kayak Series event.  12 News Now

  • Beaumont artist Inez Alvidrez brings bold color to local streets to celebrate her Hispanic heritage as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. This weekend, she takes a piece of Beaumont to Waco with a new exhibit running through Dec. 9 — her work shows strength, love, and a special family legacy.  KFDM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • U.S. News released its 2026 rankings for Texas colleges and Lamar University in Beaumont ranked between 395-434 in National Universities and 294 in Top Performers on Social Mobility. Texas schools such as Rice, UT Austin and Texas A&M earned high marks—nearly 1,700 colleges were evaluated on measures like graduation, retention and student outcomes.  Beaumont Enterprise

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • TxDOT announced that I-10 westbound at Washington Boulevard will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. until Oct. 9 — traffic will be detoured via frontage roads with no closure on Oct. 4.  Beaumont Enterprise

SPORTS NEWS

  • Bridge City beat Lumberton by a score of 40 to 17 in week five of high school football on Friday night in Southeast Texas — scores and highlights from other games have been updated.  12 News Now
  • Tailgate Party Week 5 concluded with 16 matchups—among them, Memorial winning 62 to 0 over United, Nederland beating Splendora 56 to 6, PNG defeating Lake Creek 45 to 21, and Hardin beating Orangefield 38 to 29—and final scores were announced for all games.  KFDM
  • Today, final scores from Tailgate Party Week 5 were released with Memorial winning 62 to 0 over United and Nederland defeating Splendora 56 to 6.
