- ➤ Southeast Texas Stand Down will take place this Friday at the Beaumont Civic Center to offer homeless veterans and their families services such as healthcare, legal aid, food assistance and benefits counseling from about 75 vendors. It will begin with an opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m. and doors open at 9 a.m. as vendors provide free haircuts, clothing and military surplus items — veterans must show proper ID, and the event will run until 2 p.m. 12 News Now

- ➤ Tashawna Ellis lost her 3-year-old son Syaire Wardlow when he drowned Saturday night at Edge Estates Apartments' pool that should have been closed — officers said paramedics could not revive him. KFDM

- ➤ A Southeast Texas music program in Beaumont is asking for community support to replace decades-old instruments so 53 students can continue learning music.
