COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Beaumont Fire Department will host a free festival at the Fire Museum of Texas on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring food, games, bounce houses, prizes & live fire demonstrations from local vendors & EMS personnel to promote fire safety during Fire Prevention Month.  Beaumont Enterprise
  • Urban Roots garden will host a farm-to-fork market event on Oct. 25 from noon to 4 p.m. at 2840 Glenwood—more than 20 local vendors will offer handmade crafts, baked goods and fresh produce while activities like chicken feeding, a gardening show and pumpkin painting bring the community together.  Beaumont Enterprise
  • Mr. Gonzales in Beaumont was reunited with his beloved dog Randy nearly five years after he was thought lost when Beaumont Animal Care spotted the dog running around a cemetery across the street from the shelter on Wednesday afternoon—Randy was located by his microchip and recognized his family immediately. This joyful reunion ends years of worry for the Gonzales family who never stopped hoping for his return.  KFDM
  • The Big Thicket Association will host Big Thicket Day on the Neches on October 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Collier's Ferry Park—this free event will feature exhibits, a complimentary picnic lunch, live entertainment, and free boat rides aboard the Ivory Bill.  FOX 4 Beaumont

  • Boss Lady Books owner Amy Isbell and CJ’s Cookie Counter & Candy Market owner Ashley Moss announced that their new storefront will open on Saturday in Beaumont — the location is finishing its outfitting with equipment and now joins forces with Pop-up Store Owner Kristin Hardin from Mended Tx. The venture will offer a unique mix of books, cookies, and custom jewelry in a combined shop for local patrons.  Beaumont Enterprise

CRIME NEWS

  • On Sept. 30, 2025, Beaumont Animal Care seized 32 dogs—20 puppies and 12 adults—from a suspected dog fighting and breeding compound on Pine Street with four dogs receiving care for injuries and a custody hearing set for Oct. 7.  Beaumont Enterprise

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Phillip Maldonado, a beloved band director at Vidor ISD who came out of retirement this year, died earlier this week and left a strong mark on his students and colleagues. The Vidor High School band will honor him today during halftime with a special tribute for his dedication to music education.  12 News Now
  • Fourth-grade students from Legacy Christian Academy toured the Beaumont Police Department Museum last week, where they learned about police history & met McGruff the Crime Dog. The students also surprised officers with a basket of snacks & gift cards while praying for their safety and guidance.  Beaumont Enterprise

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Greg Abbott ordered Texas DPS to boost security at churches, synagogues and faith-based spots after rising attacks on people of faith were reported—Texas Highway Patrol, Criminal Investigations Division and Texas Rangers coordinated with local and federal law enforcement to protect these sites.  12 News Now
  • TxDOT named Ana Mijares as the new district engineer for Beaumont on Wednesday—she will plan and oversee road projects across eight counties in Southeast Texas. She replaces Martin Gonzalez, who resigned after 24 years with the department.  Beaumont Enterprise
  • Beaumont will present proclamations and recognitions separately from the regular council meetings starting Nov. 4 at 10:30 a.m.—this change aims to keep meetings brief while still celebrating community achievements. Residents must submit requests at least 30 days in advance to have their recognitions approved.  Beaumont Enterprise

HEALTH NEWS

  • Beaumont Public Health's inspections from Sept. 8 to Sept. 20 showed that most restaurants earned A grades with many scoring 100—though a few received B or C grades for issues like rust shelving, unsanitized areas, and pest problems—officials said corrections are required.  Beaumont Enterprise

SPORTS NEWS

  • Lamar University will host its Pink Out Game this Saturday as the Lamar Cardinals face Nichols State University to raise breast cancer awareness. Christus Health will lead a football tailgate where fans can register for early detection screenings and receive pink shirts—honoring survivors in the community.  KFDM
