  • Across Southeast Texas, National Night Out events will take place today to build police-community partnerships for safer neighborhoods. In Beaumont, the police department will host the event at Central Park from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.—offering free games, vendors, and family activities, while similar celebrations occur in nearby cities.  12 News Now

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Today, the Chili's on Interstate 10 in Beaumont ran out of its classic skillet beef queso dip—disappointing customers—and ended a three-decade run. The restaurant is unveiling a new Southwestern Queso—nearly two years in development—that My Chili's members can redeem free with chips until Oct 21.  KFDM

  • Beaumont native Julian Stevens honors his late mother with his clothing line Dos Corazonez, which was showcased at New York Fashion Week & is featured at his Parkdale Mall store where each piece reflects childhood memories.   • Artist Allison Reho’s new exhibit 'There are no Nests in the Pines' opened at The Art Studio, Inc in Beaumont on Oct. 4—featuring ceramic coil pots and pedestals made from found objects that explore the human condition. The show runs until Oct. 24.  Beaumont Enterprise

  • Cheryl Tripplett took charge as executive director of Inspire, Encourage, Achieve on Sept. 29 after a 22-year career in education. Her work as a principal guides the program's fresh efforts—boosting literacy and building community partnerships to support local youth.  Beaumont Enterprise

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Residents in Beaumont are alarmed as feral hogs were spotted near Tram Road and Major Drive—one resident saw them in his backyard for the first time in six years and is putting up a fence for protection. Experts advise treating the hogs like bears and contacting animal control if more are seen.  FOX 4 Beaumont

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Jefferson County is preparing for early voting that starts Oct. 20—officials have updated rules by adding a curbside voting form and clearer mail-in ballots for elderly voters. They have also offered a temporary pay raise from $11 to $16 per hour for election workers to help cover rising living costs.  12 News Now
  • Today DOGE announced that the IRS office at Edison Plaza — originally slated for closure — and the Maritime Administration office at Century Tower in downtown Beaumont will remain open as planned lease terminations drop from $660 million to $140 million, meaning fewer taxpayer savings than first estimated.  KFDM

  • Griswold Home Care opened a new office in Beaumont on McFaddin Street, led by local caregiver Keeya Gilliard who was inspired by her years of caring for her son.
