BUSINESS NEWS

  • Southeast Texas' Better Business Bureau moved to its new office at 4335 Laurel Ave in Beaumont on Oct 9. Vice President Jay Sheppard said the office is 80% unpacked and they will hold an open house in December.  Beaumont Enterprise
  • Lion Elastomers announced it will end rubber production at its Orange facility by the end of this year — a move prompted by declining demand in the butadiene elastomers market. The decision, revealed Thursday, will affect about 100 workers and includes transition support — the company said.  12 News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • After unsafe conditions and evidence of organized fighting—observed at a Pine Street property—Judge Ben Collins awarded custody of 32 seized dogs to Beaumont Animal Care on Oct. 7. Since then, 18 dogs have found new homes and 4 needed veterinary care, while the owner must repay about $6,000 in vet fees.  FOX 4 Beaumont

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Apple and Google announced they will follow Texas Senate Bill 2420 that mandates age checks for app downloads—Apple will use new APIs for privacy-preserving age verification while Google introduces its own guidance for developers. Both companies said they are concerned that the law might risk users' private data when it goes into effect on January 1, 2026.  Beaumont Enterprise

HEALTH NEWS

  • Philpott Motors and The Gift of Life hosted their annual drive-thru luncheon for breast cancer awareness at the New Year Lynn dealership parking lot, where survivors received lunch and gifts in a pink decorated setting—supporters cheered the strength of the survivors. Philpott Motors has pledged to donate $50 per new and used car sold this month to support the cause.  FOX 4 Beaumont
