- ➤ Residents at The Crossing Apartments in Beaumont received new air conditioning units through Entergy’s Energy Efficiency Program — nearly 150 tenants now have improved comfort and lower utility bills as outdated systems are replaced. 12 News Now
- ➤ The French Museum will host the Pumpkin Walk and Fall Festival on Saturday, October 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.—the event includes a haunted tour of the historic home, a pumpkin decorating contest, hayride, and arts and crafts with $5 admission for ages 4 and up. FOX 4 Beaumont
- ➤ Spindletop Center will host its annual Peer Support Celebration Day on Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2750 South 8th St. in Beaumont to honor peer support specialists who help those overcoming mental health, addiction and trauma challenges. The free event will feature emcee Big Homie Erik Tee from Magic 102.5, a motorcycle ride from Teddy Morse’s Cowboy Harley-Davidson and a congratulatory message from Councilwoman LaDonna Sherwood (attendees will also receive free food, hygiene and cleaning products). - ➤ Visitors will enjoy free big band and soulful jazz performed by Jimmy Simmons and his band this Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Music at the McFaddins—attendees should bring blankets, chairs, and refreshments as the museum opens its gates at 6 p.m. at 1906 McFaddin Avenue. KFDM
- ➤ Visitors to the McFaddin-Ward House grounds on October 18 will enjoy a free concert of big band and soulful jazz by Jimmy Simmons and Friends—fans are asked to bring blankets, chairs, and refreshments as gates open at 6 p.m. and the performance begins at 6:30 p.m. at 1906 McFaddin Avenue. - ➤ On October 1, Beaumont ISD held a fall Community Caravan tour that took nearly three dozen parents and partners to visit campuses such as Martin, West Brook, and Amelia to see the new Blue Bonnet math program. The tour aimed to clear up misperceptions about the district and boost local support as school leaders work to improve outcomes—superintendent Shannon Allen said the event was key to building a better future for students. - ➤ Beaumont held its first bilingual bond meeting to inform Hispanic voters about an upcoming $264 million bond election — city officials said the meeting offered Spanish translations and addressed five propositions on infrastructure, public safety, parks, riverfront park extension and Pointe Parkway extension. - ➤ Several southeast Texas counties have imposed burn bans due to severe drought conditions that have increased fire risks—Jasper County’s ban began this morning while other counties already have similar restrictions. The measures are expected to last several weeks unless conditions improve and volunteer firefighters are better able to manage fires. KFDM

- ➤ Beaumont Public Health inspected restaurants from Sept. 22 to Oct. 4 and most establishments earned A grades with many achieving near-perfect scores.
