- ➤ The Popeyes on Highway 69 and Beauxart Garden Road reopened this morning after previous operational issues—early reviews are positive and local fans now have a fast-food option close to home. - ➤ The Multinational Miss Pageant, a beauty contest celebrating diversity and inclusion across all ages, will take place on Sunday at Vidor High School Auditorium where organizers are still accepting entries for the missus and elite divisions — the event begins at 1 p.m. and ticket prices are $10 with free admission for children 5 and under. 12 News Now

- ➤ Former principal Belinda George began her role as director of the Spindletop Boomtown Museum in Beaumont in late April — she now leads museum tours and is developing educational programs including a free open house next month and a full curriculum for school groups. Beaumont Enterprise
- ➤ The Pitzer Family Education Foundation has halted its inmate job training program after losing support from its construction industry partner—founded in 2012 by Percy and Sue Pitzer, the program once helped more than 200 former inmates rebuild their lives. The group will keep its job placement and scholarship programs running while it seeks donations from local businesses and churches. 12 News Now

- ➤ Texas voters will decide on Proposition 14 on the November ballot, a measure that would allocate $3 billion for research on Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other brain conditions. Supporters say the funding is meant to help families in Texas cope with these diseases. 12 News Now
- ➤ TxDOT deployed walking billboards at busy Beaumont intersections on Wednesday as part of its Be Safe. Drive Smart. campaign, urging drivers and pedestrians to follow traffic rules when daylight falls in October and risks rise. 12 News Now
- ➤ Officials at West Hardin Water Supply Corporation said major repairs will be finished by the third week of November and Batson residents must keep boiling water until tests pass — replacement parts will arrive on Oct. 30. The company spent over $437,000 on repairs and is seeking state and federal funds to cover future improvements. 12 News Now
- ➤ Beaumont's annual pumpkin contest is back and residents can vote on Facebook or in person at city hall until Oct. 30 at 5 p.m.—pumpkins will be on display until Halloween. Beaumont Enterprise

- ➤ Joann Lawrence, a radiologic technologist at Christus St. Mary in Port Arthur, said her mammogram in October 2022 found stage three breast cancer that had spread and led her to get months of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
