Single Moms EmpowerED offers local single moms mentoring, financial aid, and childcare to finish college and build stable careers — President Dana Johnson said the nonprofit currently supports five mothers while past graduates have become dental hygienists, nurses, social workers, and a police officer. The program helps moms manage everyday costs so they can focus on their education and better future.
Four local football teams—Bridge City, Little Cypress-Mauriceville, Huffman and Lumberton—are tied at 5-1 in District 10-4A-I with one regular season game left.
Bridge City will play at Huffman while Little Cypress-Mauriceville faces Lumberton, and head-to-head matchups will decide playoff seeding.
