- ➤ Bernsen Law Firm has launched a food drive that runs from Nov. 5—13 to help local families facing rising grocery costs; donations of non-perishable foods can be dropped off at select Beaumont spots and will be delivered to the Southeast Texas Food Bank on Nov. 14. 12 News Now
- ➤ The 47th annual Babe Zaharias Memorial Relays, hosted by the Young Men's Business League of Beaumont at Beaumont United High School, brought smiles to more than 850 students from 25 schools who competed in track events, tug of war and wheelchair races that support special education. The event honored Mildred (Babe) Zaharias, a celebrated southeast Texas native and renowned female athlete, and it was supported by 500 chaperones and about 230 volunteers. FOX 4 Beaumont
- ➤ Girls' Haven will host its annual Gumbo Cook-Off on December 6th from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Parkdale Mall—teams from across Southeast Texas will compete in Seafood, Chicken & Sausage, and combination categories while guests sample gumbo and enjoy live entertainment to support the non-profit that cares for girls in need. - ➤ Beaumont Animal Care rescued 25 cats from a broken-down van parked outside an H-E-B on College St—conditions that showed the cats were unexpectedly well cared for—and is now housing them at its shelter for adoption. The owner, who had been living in the van after eviction and had taken in extra cats from a friend, surrendered the animals—allowing him to get needed help—to find them forever homes. KFDM

- ➤ TxDOT is making emergency repairs on I-10 eastbound in Beaumont—three outside lanes between Laurel and Calder Avenue and U.S. 69 on-ramps near Laurel and College Street were closed after repairs began at 1 p.m. yesterday. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes—expect delays. Beaumont Enterprise
- ➤ Drivers in Beaumont face heavy congestion this morning on U.S. 69 south and I-10 west — a stopped car near the loop slows traffic before Delaware Street while other roads remain clear. Beaumont Enterprise

- ➤ Project Fire Buddies has started a new chapter in Beaumont that pairs local firefighters with terminally ill children to offer ongoing support. Six-year-old Maddie Mae Marchand (the first fire buddy in Beaumont) was diagnosed last November with a brain tumor and now finds joy in the visits from the fire team as she continues her chemotherapy.
