  • Taylor Knox from Oaks Historic District bakes about 30 loaves each week to help neighbors struggling with food during the ongoing government shutdown — she plans to continue baking even after the shutdown ends.  12 News Now
  • Amid a government shutdown that left many Southeast Texas families without full SNAP benefits, local groups helped over 60 families at Bingman Head Start—Dr. Alicia Doss and the Junior League arranged grocery pickups to ensure no child went hungry. Beaumont ISD is also hosting its Thanksgiving food drive to support families in need.  12 News Now
  • Today, non-profits in Beaumont are collecting and handing out extra blankets, coats, and sweaters to help residents face a frost advisory that lasts until Tuesday morning—Henry’s Place organizer Brooke McDaniel is coordinating donations as Code Enforcement addresses litter issues on the 1100 block of McFaddin.  KFDM
  • Livol Herbal and Cleansing Store in Beaumont has launched its Socksgiving drive to collect socks for those in need as the weather gets colder—store owner Mary Ekene said the fundraiser will help warm feet this season.  KFDM

CRIME NEWS

  • A massive cybersecurity breach at Conduent Inc.—a billing firm with offices in Houston and Dallas that works with major companies and government agencies—compromised personal information for over 10 million people starting in October 2024 and is estimated to have affected about 4 million Texans, with victims being notified beginning October 8.  Beaumont Enterprise

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Texas A&M Forest Service released its burn ban map showing that Jasper and Newton counties reinstated bans due to cold, dry weather—while other counties lifted bans after rain. Firefighters warn that gusty winds and dry vegetation can still spark dangerous fires—residents are advised to prepare and keep combustibles away from heating devices.  KFDM

  • Beaumont roads are busy tonight as rush hour nears with backups on U.S. 69 northbound and slowdowns on I-10 westbound. TxDOT maps show delays after Fannett Road (near West Cardinal Drive and South Fourth Street) and near the U.S. 90 interchange (by Babe Zaharias Park).  Beaumont Enterprise

SPORTS NEWS

  • Southeast Texas high school football playoffs will start on Thursday and Friday as local teams prepare to compete in the state bracket. Beaumont United, which earned a playoff spot with a late-season push, will play Houston Madison at 7 p.m. Friday—other unbeaten teams from Port Neches-Groves, Port Arthur Memorial, and Hardin will also look to extend their winning streaks.  Beaumont Enterprise
