  • Saint James United Methodist Church in Beaumont will celebrate 150 years of service on Sunday, November 16th at 2 p.m. with a special service featuring guest speaker Reverend Dr. Carlos Phillips + the event honors the church’s role as a key part of the African American community since 1875.  12 News Now
  • McAlister’s Delis in Beaumont and Port Arthur are offering free meals for children while federal SNAP benefits remain in limbo – the Beaumont location plans a dine-in offer and is evaluating takeout options until food assistance funds are restored.  Beaumont Enterprise
  • Beaumont’s Lamar University campus will host its fifth annual Cardinal Lights display starting Nov. 18 with thousands of lights along campus roads and a kickoff event from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. — the display will run through New Year's Day and includes food trucks, hot cocoa, games, a drone show and Santa photo opportunities that are free to everyone.  KFDM
  • Residents in Cheek and nearby Jefferson County communities are urging officials to meet Nov. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Martin DePorres Hall in Beaumont to address safety concerns with a proposed ExxonMobil carbon capture project near homes—fears include pipeline ruptures, explosions, and chemical leaks that could harm local drinking water. This meeting follows earlier public warnings raised by residents after similar incidents in Mississippi and Illinois.  12 News Now

  • Ray Stelly, a Hamshire-Fannett native with cerebral palsy, trains for the Houston Aramco Half Marathon in January by switching from mobility-impaired running to pushrim racing.
