COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Drivers on Beaumont highways face several slow spots today as rush hour traffic builds. Traffic on U.S. 69 northbound thickens near West Cardinal Drive, while southbound delays occur near Delaware and North Streets—with I-10 westbound congestion growing past the Neches River.  Beaumont Enterprise
  • St. Mark's Episcopal Church in downtown Beaumont will host its 84th annual Chili Supper and Bazaar with lunch served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. — adult tickets cost $20 and kids tickets $10, with proceeds supporting local non-profit organizations.  FOX 4 Beaumont
  • Historic Sacred Spaces and the Jefferson County Historical Commission will hold a dedication for a new historical marker at Blanchette Cemetery in Beaumont this Saturday, starting at 1 p.m. at 3700 Corner of Inca and Ollie (Barbara Lynn) Streets.  FOX 4 Beaumont
  • Operation Feed Beaumont launched a campaign to raise $250,000 for the Southeast Texas Food Bank — the effort aims to support families facing SNAP delays and dwindling food supplies during the holiday season. Ward 1 Councilmember Corey Crenshaw said the initiative already received key support, including a 12,000-pound food donation from Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, and more help is expected soon.  12 News Now

  • On Nov. 13th, 1925, oil magnate Miles Frank Yount struck oil at the McFaddin No. 3 well—launching the second Spindletop oil boom that spurred growth in Beaumont. He later built tank farms and docks for shipping and his company was sold in one of the largest cash transactions of its time.  Beaumont Enterprise

CRIME NEWS

  • On Monday night at 9 p.m., surveillance cameras at the Humane Society of Southeast Texas in Beaumont captured a driver abandoning a mother cat and her five kittens on the shelter's doorstep in below 40-degree weather — the shelter director said the incident worsened space challenges and will make prosecuting animal abandonment difficult.  KFDM

  • Beaumont is finishing a new water pump station that will strengthen its water system—local officials say the upgraded pumps and modern equipment will help stop outages like those seen after Tropical Storm Harvey.  FOX 4 Beaumont
  • Beaumont will close Caswell Road, between Concord Road and U.S. 69, daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.—Nov. 17 through Nov. 23—while Entergy replaces utility poles, and emergency vehicles cannot access the area.  Beaumont Enterprise
