- ➤ Families in Southeast Texas may face higher costs for Thanksgiving meals as rising food prices — especially for sweet potatoes and veggie trays — add planning stress even as turkey prices drop, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation. A typical dinner for 10 now costs about $55.18, which is 13% more than pre-pandemic prices. FOX 4 Beaumont
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Beaumont ISD began constructing a 24,000-square-foot transportation complex nearly a year ago and will combine its three separate transportation centers into one central hub by next fall—this facility, costing about $9.2 million and partly funded by Tropical Storm Imelda insurance proceeds, is designed for about 125 employees. The new complex will have office spaces, conference rooms, and training areas, and it is expected to boost efficiency and help with bus driver recruitment by bringing in staff by Aug. 1. KFDM

- ➤ Beaumont restaurants now pay a higher fee of $400 for annual health permits due to Senate Bill 1008, up from $250 as state law took effect on Sept. 1. At a council meeting, restaurant owners voiced their concerns and Councilman Cory Crenshaw withdrew his support + local officials said the fee must follow state rules. 12 News Now
- ➤ TxDOT traffic maps show driver delays today on Beaumont highways — congestion builds on U.S. 69 northbound between South 4th Street and West Cardinal Drive and heavy traffic forms on westbound I-10 near the Neches River — so commuters should plan alternate routes. Beaumont Enterprise

- ➤ Elijah's Place is highlighting its services for grieving children this month as part of Worldwide Children's Grief Awareness Month. Program director Randi Fertitta said the organization is the only local group helping children cope with the loss of a parent, guardian or caregiver—offering unique support during a challenging time. - ➤ On Tuesday morning, a breakfast and check presentation launched the 13th annual Reindeer Campaign by Exxpress Mart and the Gift of Life program, which raised $45,000 to help pay for free health care for those without insurance in Southeast Texas — breast and prostate cancer survivors shared their stories at the event. The program will offer 100 free breast screenings in December — this help will give women a chance to get checked during a busy time. Beaumont Enterprise
