Beaumont United ended its historic season Friday night with a 51—7 playoff loss to the College Station Cougars at Maddry Stadium—coach Drenard Williams honored the seniors who recorded the team’s first 7—5 season, and the Cougars now head to the third round against Port Arthur Memorial.

Local high school football teams won important playoff games Friday as Port Arthur Memorial, Port Neches-Groves, Bridge City, West Orange-Stark, La Vega, Hardin and Newton advanced into UIL regionals to pursue a state championship—regional semifinal matchups were set at various local stadiums including Planet Ford Stadium and Driskell Stadium.
