- ➤ Arlinda Williams hosted the third annual Thanksgiving Drive-Thru Giveaway at Alice Keith Park on Sunday, delivering 360 turkeys and meal ingredients to families from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.—the event has grown from 180 turkeys in its first year. 12 News Now
- ➤ Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church raised $700 during Sunday service to support Lisa Graham and Jackie Austin, two women staying in Orange after Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica. The funds will buy supplies for shipment to Jamaica and the women plan to return next week—an effort that shows local support for international relief. 12 News Now
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Beaumont ISD school trustees voted at a Thursday night meeting to buy 22 rifle-rated ballistic shields from RTS Tactical—costing $74,799.81 with state grant funds—to meet the new Sept. 1 rule under the Uvalde Strong Act. Each shield is priced at $4,499.99 while the district also must equip every campus with a breaching tool. 12 News Now

- ➤ The city of Beaumont and the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce ended their financial ties after a dispute over measuring economic development expenses—city officials confirmed the Chamber will not seek monetary support for the upcoming budget year. Beaumont Enterprise
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Beaumont Public Health inspected local restaurants between Nov. 3 and Nov. 14 and found most earned A grades while some showed temperature lapses and cleaning issues—problems that could impact food safety.
