  • A Beaumont nonprofit called Mae’s Love Beyond the Walls moved retired Army veteran James Meloncon from the streets into a fully furnished home three days before Thanksgiving—volunteers stocked the house with a meal and essential supplies to help him start fresh.  12 News Now
  • A Jefferson County courtroom filled with joy as 19 children were officially adopted on National Adoption Day—families united and Judge Randy Shelton celebrated the start of new beginnings as the community looks forward to more adoptions in the region.  KFDM

  • Beaumont Universal Travel’s general manager Kristie England offers holiday travel tips following a 43-day government shutdown that ended on Nov 12 — she warns that flight delays, cancellations and lengthy TSA lines may continue as agencies ramp up efforts to manage busy travel days.  Beaumont Enterprise
  • The Beaumont Enterprise launched the 100 Club to honor restaurants that earned perfect health inspection scores from Beaumont Public Health.   • A group of Buddhist monks walking from Fort Worth to Washington, D.C. arrived in Kountze on Monday for day 30 of their Walk for Peace and planned a late-morning lunch at Hardin County Forest—Agricultural Youth Association with an overnight rest at Phil’s Bar on TX-327. Two members were hit by a vehicle near Dayton last week and one required surgery, and the group will continue east with caution.  12 News Now
  • John Barnes Chance, a composer from Beaumont, made wind ensemble music famous by turning a Korean folk song into an award-winning piece—Variations on a Korean Folk Song. He also arranged music and taught before he died when he was hurt by electricity while working in his backyard on Aug. 16th, 1972.  Beaumont Enterprise

  • Beaumont drivers face varied highway conditions this evening — light northbound traffic on U.S. 69 near Fannett Road contrasts with heavy southbound delays around Austin Street and North Street. Traffic on I-10 westbound slows down — congestion builds past the I-10/U.S. 90 interchange from Rose City and eases near the Toccoa Street interchange.  Beaumont Enterprise
