  • A year ago, Mary Smith said she felt grateful and at peace after the Jefferson County Long Term Recovery Group repaired her storm-damaged home and made it safe for her return by Thanksgiving. The team replaced key parts of her floor—restoring her home so she can walk with confidence.  12 News Now
  • The 6th annual Warm Winter Wishes blanket drive is underway from now until December 14th to collect soft blankets for seniors and the homeless in the Golden Triangle. Paula Baxter, who started the drive six years ago, expects to exceed 1,000 blankets this year — following donations of over 500 in 2023 and 700 in 2024.  FOX 4 Beaumont

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A high school junior at Woodrow Wilson Early College High School in Port Arthur turned a class assignment into a full-length sci-fi novel called Asani and published it on Amazon. His teacher said the project encouraged other students and the book sold 11 copies so far.  12 News Now

  • Evening traffic builds on Beaumont highways as speeds drop to about 25 mph on I-10 near Willow Street and on U.S. 69 by Gladys Avenue — drivers should plan for delays during the rush hour.  Beaumont Enterprise
