- ➤ Data from the Texas Workforce Commission showed the Beaumont-Port Arthur region recorded a 5.6% unemployment rate in September—down from 5.9% in August but slightly higher than 5.4% a year ago—as the local labor force grew to 176,412 while the state added 4,600 jobs that month. KFDM
