Eight Nederland ISD students signed letters of intent to join the U.S. Army during a ceremony on Tuesday at their school cafeteria – community members and family gathered to honor their decision.

According to her employment agreement, acting superintendent Sandi Massey is paid $1,212.77 per day and will also receive a one-time $10,000 relocation payment until her permanent contract is finalized at the upcoming BISD Board of Managers meeting, with her role effective since April 29.
