Beaumont Police issued a felony warrant for 26-year-old Asa Jones in connection with a road rage shooting on the 8000 block of Eastex Freeway last week that left a man with a gunshot wound to the face, and he is now in custody with a $500,000 bond — though he maintains his innocence.

Beaumont Police Chief Tim Ocnaschek said the department expects a slight increase in youth-related crimes such as petty theft, burglaries, and car break-ins this summer—urging residents to lock their vehicles and secure their belongings while also expanding community programs that include reading initiatives, basketball leagues, and park events.
