Judge Raquel West declared a mistrial in the case—where 25-year-old Austin Jones is charged with aggravated assault causing serious injuries to his three-month-old daughter after she was allegedly shaken in February—when a prosecution witness was on the stand.

On July 18th, 2024, Beaumont Animal Care seized 10 dogs from a suspected dogfighting ring on Bigner Road after officers discovered deplorable conditions with dogs bearing scars and wounds—these animals are now in foster homes.

The Beaumont Heritage Society is opening an exhibit titled Agatha Babino: A Narrative of the Formerly Enslaved at Heritage Hall in the John Jay French Museum that shares the rare firsthand account of a formerly enslaved woman who lived in Beaumont.
