- ➤ On Monday night at 9 p.m., surveillance cameras at the Humane Society of Southeast Texas in Beaumont captured a driver abandoning a mother cat and her five kittens on the shelter's doorstep in below 40-degree weather — the shelter director said the incident worsened space challenges and will make prosecuting animal abandonment difficult.
