If you have kids in Nederland or Lumberton schools, here's where things stand. Voters turned down Nederland ISD's Proposition A, and the measure is no longer moving forward. Lumberton ISD's tax increase also failed.
“We must step back, evaluate our financial position, and start reassessing our priorities.”
Nicholas Phillips, Nederland ISD board president
Phillips said Nederland will review "everything," including staffing, programs and services, but he doesn't want anyone guessing at cuts before administrators finish. Lumberton Superintendent Dr. John Mathews said the board will keep evaluating financial options. Trustees were scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, and their agenda included:
- Tax rate
- The district's financial rating
- Long-range plans for school buildings
- New software
